Working on green energy
Jesper’s ambition does not stop at feed.
"At the moment, currently all our manure goes to biogas
production, and we are also exploring new avenues such as
pyrolysis and biogenic CO
2
. Everyone knows that we have
a need in Europe to produce gas ourselves – a large part
of which can be perfectly produced by farms. In the future
I hope to install solar panels with a battery on my farm so
that we can also produce our own electricity."

Smart innovation with data
"We supply milk to the dairy cooperative Arla. We work
with Arla’s FarmAhead™ Check tool, which allows us to
measure the environmental impact of the farm and help
decrease our CO
2
emission. Arla also works with f inancial
incentives for every sustainable measure we apply. That
motivates us to work on our emissions, which we mitigate
by focusing strongly on feed ef f iciency throughout the
value chain. We avoid so much potential waste by working
with a databased feed management software that
allows us to accurately calculate
how much feed is needed for each
individual cow. All feed is analysed
before it goes to the silos. Thanks
to this approach combined with
other initiatives on our farm, we
are at 0.87 kg CO
2
equivalent per
kilo energy-adjusted milk."
