Sustainability at the heart of the farm life
Line explains that sustainability is embedded in the
farm organisation as a basic principle because her goal
is to keep the farm in the best possible shape once her
children might take over. Every practice and decision is
made to meet this goal, so she implements sustainability
in practice every day.
”My most important task is to leave the farm and the
land to the next generation in good shape – like it was
for my parents and the ones before them”. Sustainable
practices on the farm include
for example enhancing
biodiversity through f lowers
planted in the f ields and by
heating the house with the
excess heating generated
from the milk production, to
make sure, that the energy
consumption is kept as low
as possible.
A strong engagement in the local community
The farm is situated in Nature Park Randers Fjord which
means that there is public access to the farmland along
the river Gudenåen and continuous collaboration with the
municipalities, politicians, environmental associations,
tourists associations is a prerequisite for a respectful
partnership between the farm and its surroundings. For Line
it is part of the job to be engaged in the local community, like
opening the farm to visitors, participating at local events,
communicating with the neighbours and be pro-active and
dynamic to maintain the life of the rural area. She sees this
engagement as a win-win for the farm and the society.
