GENERATIONAL RENEWAL
Supporting young people in installation
Corentin is vice president of the young farmer union (FJA).
He really wants to share his experience with young people
and is involved in training and formation of young farmers
on technical themes and courses about installation.
For Corentin, communication is key and ‘that start with
communicating with your neighbors as a farmer to facilitate
understanding’.
He is convinced that keeping the link between the farmer
and the consumers is crucial to improve the image of the
dairy sector among citizens. That can be done by opening
your farm to visitors for example.
Administrative challenges
For Corentin the main problem is administrative burden on
taking over the farm. The process can be very slow so he is
be remunerated for it.
This situation wouldn’t be possible without the f inancial
help of his parents. In addition, he would like to invest
in land and buildings to improve the
farm which makes very
signif icant investment costs
for farm succession when
everything is added.
Corentin explains that if
dairy farms continue to
grow bigger, it will be
impossible for young
people to invest such a
big amount of money if
they want to take over a farm.
